Grains are pre-cleaned in the ducts – “the chaff is sifted from the wheat”. Typical duct cross-sections have edge lengths of 600 - 1200mm. On site several of these curved and welded duct assemblies are screwed together with other components to form a grain processing plant.

The stainless steel casing consists of separate chambers with 3 interconnected heat exchanger installations and inspection openings. The apparatus is used in a facility manufacturing aspirin. Smooth interior surfaces are essential to comply with pharmaceutical hygiene requirements. Due to very low-pressures, strength calculations are performed to calculate and ensure the stability of the casing. For verification a pressure and leakage test is conducted during the final inspection.

Welded stainless steel piping for media supply air and exhaust air consists of manifold pipelines and connecting points for the machines. The branched pipes can be fitted with custom or standard flanges. The system is completed with typical accessories, such as flaps, instrument nozzles, drain nozzles, expansion joints, silencers and insulation. For a quote or offer, customers can turn in a parts list with standard parts or an isometric drawing that LBF will optimize for production.

We produce custom pipes and casings under the motto “If it can be designed, it can manufactured”. LBF produces welded constructions based on customer-drawings (STEP-, DWG-, DXF-files) or LBF drawings developed and released together with the customer. Some of these constructions require very stringent testing and documentation, e.g. for Exxon, BASF or for use in nuclear engineering.

This custom piping is a part of an exhaust air treatment facility for BASF in Antwerp. The customer provides production drawings and parts lists. All welding is done by certified welders and the welding process is verified by welding procedure qualifications. The requirements for welding companies are met as per DIN EN ISO 3834 – Part 2. After verification of gas tightness, heating coils are placed on the surface of the piping followed by insulation with mineral wool.

The central pipe with apparatus flange is fitted with lateral nozzles placed in regular intervals along the complete length of the pipe. These are used, among other things, as measuring points and must be precisely aligned and calibrated. The pipe is assembled from multiple sections and delivered in one piece. Provided documentation includes inspection certificates of the material and test protocols for the demension inspection, weld seam evaluation ISO 5817, quality level C and surface treatment – pickling.
