Stainless steel pipes for regenerative thermal oxidizer – RTO facilities at Exxon Mobil. The material is certified and PMI-tested (Positive Material Identification) on account of the refinery industries’ extremely rigid requirements for documentation, traceability and inspections. All welding is carried out under welding procedure specifications and qualifications. Non-destructive testing and approvals are done by TÜV, MTL and DEKRA.

Depending on the application, exhaust gas lines are often operated under temperatures between 200° - 600°C. The material for the lines must be chosen based on the parameters: temperature, pressure, strength, and corrosion demands. The pipe or duct must be able to handle the linear expansions caused by these temperatures. For this, expansion joints and a combination of floating and fixed bearings are needed. Calculations for the piping network and a structural analysis are necessary for the planning and the drawings.

Pipe lines used for chemicals are designed in stainless steel. Depending on the corrosion load, simple or high-quality stainless steel, for example 1.4539, is chosen. Alternatively, additional interior coatings are an option, provided that the medium is not abrasive and the operating temperature is not too high. Expansion joints – shown in this project as stainless steel expansion joints – must be accurately specified with respect to required radial and lateral absorption of movement. This is, among other things, a result of the piping network calculations.

LBF builds stainless steel tanks and vessels in virtually any design: round, rectangular, Non-pressure, pressure vessels, all with or without interior fittings. In this project, the stainless steel vessel is used as an unpressurised filter with a supported intermediate floor and covered with perforated sheet metal to hold filter material. The design data – main dimensions, required volume, connection openings – is customer specified. The details of the design are determined during the drafting.

The stainless steel casing consists of separate chambers with 3 interconnected heat exchanger installations and inspection openings. The apparatus is used in a facility manufacturing aspirin. Smooth interior surfaces are essential to comply with pharmaceutical hygiene requirements. Due to very low-pressures, strength calculations are performed to calculate and ensure the stability of the casing. For verification a pressure and leakage test is conducted during the final inspection.

Stainless steel designs – our specialty! Cutting, laser cutting, bending, rounding, welding, blasting, pickling, grinding. We manufacture welded constructions for all applications according to customer-drawings or based on designs developed together. We make one of a kind products as well as batch productions. The surface treatment, e.g. blasting or pickling, can be done right in our own facilities, which saves money and time on our customer’s projects!
