Gas and steam turbines are positioned on concrete foundations in order to technically guarantee their smooth operation and proper alignment. The entire cement foundation is mounted on spring elements which bear the total load of the block and the machines. Taking the spring rates of the elements into consideration, the required tuning frequency, and thereby the quality of the isolation, is structurally adjusted.  The foundation is placed during the assembly with cooperation of the commissioning engineers.

Steam exhaust silencers (also: tension release silencers) are often placed behind safety equipment such as valves or flaps. When these open, a large amount of steam flows, with an overpressure, into the tension release expansion stage (perforated steel plate throttle) which has been fitted with a silencer. In the upper part of the silencer there are sound-absorbing fittings, which reduce the noise of the valve and the flow noise according to the sound requirements.

Rectangular industrial silencers with connecting pipe and exhaust stack for polluted air. The welded silencer casing is equipped with inspection doors and removable splitters. The splitters can be vacuumed and wiped clean. The steel construction carries the complete load of the structure also allowing for wind load. The stacks are equipped with platforms and measuring points for regulatory inspections.

Rectangular exhaust air silencers with exhaust air towers and deflector hood for protection from rain. Silencers are usually constructed with noise absorbing interior components containing mineral wool. The surface is covered with perforated sheet metal along with glass fibre fabric, foil or stainless steel mesh. However, it must remain “acoustically” open to the air flow. In the project presented on this page, the splitter silencer, which can be completely removed and cleaned, are aligned behind convenient inspection openings, which can be reached by a steel construction platform.

Coatings are used to protect metal surfaces from corrosion or for aesthetic reasons.  Powder coatings are highly professional with regard to their uniform appearance, bonding and pre-treatment capabilities, and short application time. For noise protection enclosures, each individual component is separately and completely powder coated to ensure a guaranteed corrosion-free protection at the joints as well. One-layer coatings at 70 µm or multi-layered coatings can be applied; many RAL colours are available in stock.

The interior components of silencers in the food industry must be accessible or removable to facilitate inspections, cleaning and disinfecting, or replacements. Absorbent surfaces can be fitted with foil so they can be vacuumed and wiped down. Careful cleaning with a steam cleaner is possible on stainless steel meshes. For smaller quantities of air, a round construction is usually technically and commercially the most economic design.
